Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
Kept going on about how he didn’t like being booed, so what happens from opposition fans every time he plays????????

Stupid cunt only came out today and said, he is thinking of retiring as he is always booed by the opposition fans, oh and it down to racism?

UPDATE: ADAM Goodes is out of Sydney’s critical clash with the Adelaide Crows at the SCG this weekend as the race debate surrounding the Swans champ continued to take its toll.

After taking two days’ leave of absence following the loss to the West Coast Eagles in Perth the club and Goodes agreed more time away from the game was needed.

Swans CEO Andrew Ireland said in a prepared statement Goodes’ welfare was the number one priority and no time frame has been put on his time out from the game.

“As a club we are working with Adam and those close to him and supporting him through what is a really difficult time,” Ireland said.

“Adam is sick and tired of this behaviour. It has been happening for too long and it has taken its toll.

“We will give Adam all the time he needs. We will keep supporting him and he will return to the club whenever he is ready.”

As the debate about crowd abuse directed at Goodes continues to rage, a former A-League player has been kicked off a Victorian soccer team just hours before he was due to take the field for them in a crucial FFA Cup match after making comments about Goodes on Twitter.

Goalkeeper Griffin McMaster - who plays for Heidelberg United - embroiled himself in a social media storm after suggesting that Goodes should be deported.

McMaster deleted the tweet but defended his views in further conversations on the social media site.

“Adam Goodes calls Australia Day invasion day. Deport him. If you don’t like it leave,” read the original tweet from the former Brisbane Roar and Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper.

Despite a barrage of criticism, McMaster remained defiant, replying: “Disrespect this country and you cop it. I’m not happy with the way he’s going about things.”

His club posted a message on Facebook around 6pm AEST saying that it was omitting him from tonight’s round of 32 FFA Cup match against Broadmeadow Magic and is considering further action.

Earlier, the AFL Players Association said no-one could blame Goodes for walking away from the game while high-profile Sydney radio personality Alan Jones took aim at the Swans champ, saying he is playing “the victim”.

Speaking on Channel 7 after reports that Goodes was considering retirement, Jones showed little sympathy for the Sydney champ, saying he could “fix all this by changing his behaviour”.

“... what’s he say today? ‘Oh, I’m going to leave. I may have to resign. I can’t hack it.’” Jones said.

Jones said footy fans had not forgotten the incident involving Goodes and a teenage girl at the MCG in 2013 — when he pointed out a member of the crowd after being called an ape — and believed he was being punished for that.

“The bloke’s a rich Australian athlete. He humiliated a 13-year-old girl who didn’t even know what she was saying, and the public haven’t forgotten it.

“Someone’s got to ask the question: why are they booing Adam Goodes and not the other 70 indigenous AFL players?

“Adam Goodes can fix this by changing his behaviour. He again today plays the victim.”

In a nutshell

He’s of Aboriginal decent, opposition fan (13 year old), called him an ape, he heard and made huge issue about it, national headlines, girl had to have counselling, made to publicly apologise, Goodes still hasn’t let it go, Claims anyone who boos him is doing it because of Racism.

Oh, and then just last week, when the booing occured.......................but apparently this was ok???

Teammate Lewis Jetta performed an indigenous war dance and threw an imaginary spear at a section of the West Coast crowd

Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
He was Australian of the Year and speaks up about racism in Australian society including football.
And some people don't like it.
It is mentioned that there are 70 other players of Aboriginal descent in the league and only he gets booed. That's because he doesn't know his place.

I saw one of the West Coast Eagles fans ejected at the weekend told him to 'get back to the zoo'.
And afterwards said he regarded that as 'banter'.

Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
I'm pleased he humiliated the girl no matter what her age. At 13 she knew exactly what she was doing and deserved to be called out on it - people that take her side on it are as bad as her. Disgusting behaviour.

If the booing really is on the back of that, then i'd say it is racially motivated and anyone caught doing it should be arrested.

Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
and if my 13 year old did anything like that, it would be me who publicly humiliates them.

Parent needs locking up as well.

i'd agree with that mate.
harsh for a 13 year old to deal with but you'd hope they'd certainly consider what they were saying before any repeat

and the adults defending her ? shocking really

one clip in particular where 'Big Marn' is driving a motor scooter and crashes in to a barrier round the track and ends up on the deck, almost pissed myself :.)

Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
I don't know the story very much.

But you can condemn the act and certainly argue with anyone who supports it but making a 13 year old girl the focus of it, goes a little far, it seems.

None of you did anything stupid at 13 because people around you were.

I saw that - very good programme.

IOC - Girl gives racial abuse, gets called out on it quite rightly. Who is making her the focus of it apart from the people booing him... if that really is the reason they are

ironsofcanada 3:24 Wed Jul 29
Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
Mr Polite 3:18 Wed Jul 29

He made her the focus

"To hear a 13-year-old girl call me an ape ... it was shattering," Goodes said.

"Racism has a face. It's a 13-year-old girl."

Again it is more about the parents and the company she was in, I would imagine. Stamping out the act is very important but he helped make her the face of it.

Re: Aussie footballer will quit if fans don’t stop booing him.
I have also just watch the incident; he calls her out on TV and it get her marched out.

I appreciate the work he has done and most of the people opposing him are in the wrong but he could have handled that particular incident better.

Hold on. She was 13, not 6.

Fair play to him, I say.
